The earthquake that struck on 15 January 1934was the worst natural disaster recorded in the history of Nepal. With its epicentre 170 Kms away from Kathmandu, it left the capital devastated. 200,000 houses were reduced to rubble and no structure palace, temple or shrine was left unscathed.
